Great news! Along with this massive issue filled with incredible pieces, we have a contest coming up. There’s a $1000 prize in both poetry and prose, along with publication for the runners up. This year Rebecca Makkai, author of The Borrower and The Hundred-Year House, will judge in prose, and Roger Reeves, author of King Me, will judge in poetry. We are really excited about this year’s contest, and submissions are now open. All entries come with a one-year subscription and will be eligible for publication. See newsouthjournal.com for more details.
We still have room in our next issue, 8.2, as well! Remember: Issue 8.2 is an Adventure themed issue. We’re leaving the interpretation of the theme up to you. We have special categories for both poetry and prose submissions on our Submittable page (http://newsouthjournal.submittable.com), and submissions are open until April 30, 2015.
Enjoy the issue!
